Architectural Art Unveiling - Sunday 2-4pm
Artist Suzy Olsen Presents San Antonio Homes
New Commissions in Pen & Ink and Water Color
Greetings!

When: Sunday, November, 26th, 2-4pm.
Where: 440 Quentin in Monticello Park (Map).
What: Unveiling of Original Art by artist Suzy Olsen.

I have long admired Suzy Olsen's art and I even had the honor of using one of her water colors to market a beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival home. I recently commissioned 3 pieces to capture the beauty and character of three of my current and upcoming listings including a Spanish Ranch, Tudor Revival and a Bungalow.

Please join us on Sunday as we unveil her new works. She will bring several of her previous commissions.

440 Quentin is an exceptional historic home and is available for $259,900. Click here for the Architectural Analysis of Quentin.

Suzy Olsen has lived, worked and taught painting in America, Mexico, Spain, and Italy. Her travels have brought her a wide field of experience and she has her personal studios in San Antonio, Texas and Tuscany, Italy. While living in San Antonio, she frequently teaches workshops in watercolor painting and perspective drawing.

I hope you can join us,

Tudor Revival in Monticello Park
Architectural Analysis
Door WIndow

Architectural Historian Dr. Shelley Roff did some research on the home at 346 Donaldson. Here is what she came up with.

This English Tudor Revival house built in 1935 characterizes typical features of this residential style popular in American neighborhoods between 1890 and 1940.

cross gables, the decorative half-timbering, and tall, narrow windows with multi-pane glazing evoke the romantic image of a 16th century English manor house.

The first floor's rough limestone veneer is punctuated by the semi-circular arches of the end porch and front door and supports the extended western roofline with a ground-level parapet.

The black and white contrast of the vergeboards and wood trim with the stucco cladding of the second story recalls half-timber construction, typically found in the Eli zabethan period.

A faux Tudor stucco fireplace and curved profile molding along the walls does enhance the romantic environment of the living room and master bedroom above. Note that a massive chimney with ceramic chimney pots, a typical Tudor feature, does not grace the building's exterior profile.

The interior has been substantially renovated. Several other architectural details noteworthy for their historical character include the leaded clear and colored glass panes of the front door and staircase windows, the brass knocker and door hinges, and the refinished bathroom pedestal sinks and floral cabinet ornamentation.
