3 Bedroom, 3 Bath in Mahncke Park
Favorite Memories

Steven and Courtney recently decided to move to Austin. They will miss San Antonio and have taken a moment to share a few of their favorite memories from their beloved home on Parland.

Favorite restaurants:

Liberty Bar: sitting at the bar, talking to our favorite bartender. Drinking a little wine and ordering a meal from there. Watching the clientele, meeting friends. Steve's favorite restaurant ever.

Mon's Thai Bistro: combination of sushi and Thai. Who could ask for more? Everything I've eaten there has become my favorite until I try the next item. The pad thai and hot and sour soup are old standby that never failed to please.

Sorrento's : the best authentic Italian pizza ever. You don't necessarily think of Sorrento's and ambience as going together. But its special atmosphere of neighborhood Italian in Manhattan is one thing we really enjoy. Friendly, warm, and always crowded. Great restaurant!

Mahncke Park:

Our favorite thing is to walk to the top of the hill, sit on the park bench below the flagpole and watch the sun set all the way to the horizon. If you're familiar with Mt. Bonnell or the Oasis in Austin, this is pretty close and the only place in central San Antonio where we have found this amazing view. What a relaxing way to wind down the day...

Central Market:

Fresh produce, beautiful layout, and a balloon "for the kid." Where else can you get Doritos, Pepperidge Farm Goldfish AND Manchego cheese? Plus there's Meals for Two and you can grab a sack of tamari smoked almonds in bulk. If it's not at Central market I don't need to eat it. This is a big benefit to living in Mahncke Park.

Trinity University:

Nice, strenuous bike ride with a child on the back. Then we nature-walk the beautiful campus. Throw pennies in the fountain. Explore the O'Neil Ford- designed buildings. Then a wonderful, exertion-free bicycle coast all the way back to Brackenridge Park. Great proximity to Laurie Auditorium- we saw Isaac Hayes and Alison Krauss, among others.

Incarnate Word:

Public access to the Blue Hole, the sacred beginning (literally) of the San Antonio river. When there's been a good rain season, springs are everywhere, even bursting from the banks of the river itself. It's a very nice walk and introduction to the history of this great city.

Courtney's favorites:

Meeting my husband for lunch downtown -- and then walking through the front door of SAMA -- in under an hour.

Walking to the zoo with my daughter to see her favorite animal -- the otters.

Having a picnic with my daughter at the McNay Museum where we feed the koi and then take in the current exhibit.

Watching hawks fly over Mahncke Park -- from our breeze-cooled front porch.

Having drinks and great conversation with friends on our shaded back porch.

Walking up to the Botanical Gardens for a music-filled evening under the stars.

Walking down Broadway to catch the Battle of Flowers Fiesta parade.

We are going to miss our home on Parland. What a rich life we have enjoyed here watching our daughter in her first years! Steven and Courtney

  • Living Room

Steve and Courtney have put some love in this 1,530 square foot home. The bones seem solid and they have done an excellent job of modernizing without mucking up the original charm. Just click the photo to take a gander.

    Deck

Mahncke Park is located in one of the most convenient neighborhoods in town. Just across Broadway is Br ackenridge Park, with the train and the golf course. And the zoo... The Botanical Gardens are about a block and a half up Parland. Trinity and The University of the Incarnate Word are just around the corner with their libraries and athletic facilities.

Me? I would be excited about having Central Market right up the street.

Please don't hesitate to respond to this email or call me or my team for more information (733-1928 or 846-9273). I won't be ready to list this on the MLS for everyone else to see until early next week, so you have a brief window of opportunity to tour this home before it is released to the public.
